Skandagiri one of the four prominent peaks in the nandi hills range. Others being Nandi hills itself, Chennagiri and Dibbagiri. Also known as Kalavaradurga, Kalavarabetta or Kalavarahallibetta, it was fortified. One can still see the remnants of the fortifications. Kalavaradurga was captured by British in 1791. It is the source of river Papagni.
